Darekon has been awarded a bronze medal in EcoVadis’ 2026 sustainability assessment, placing us among the top 35% of all companies evaluated globally. This recognition marks a significant milestone in our long-term, goal-oriented sustainability efforts that we have been systematically developing across all our factories in Finland, Sweden and Poland.
EcoVadis is a globally recognized platform for assessing corporate sustainability that evaluates companies’ performance across four areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The assessment is based on the companies’ documented policies, actions and reporting, and aims to support them in continuously improving their sustainability performance.
Darekon joined the EcoVadis assessment system in 2024, and in every evaluation since then we have achieved a bronze medal. This result demonstrates that our sustainability practices and management systems meet EcoVadis’ criteria and provide a strong foundation for further development.
“We have improved our EcoVadis scores by approximately 15% annually, which is an excellent achievement for all Darekon employees and something we can be proud of,” says Darekon CEO, Kai Orpo.
The assessment reflects how sustainability has been integrated into Darekon’s strategy, management, and daily operations. This is also visible in the steady increase in overall scores year by year.
During 2024–2025, we clarified our operating models related to environment, people, procurement, data security, and risk management. At the same time, we strengthened our ESG metrics and improved our reporting to support transparent and consistent sustainability work. Through transparency and clear operating practices, we have strengthened the trust and satisfaction of our employees and customers further.
We will continue to develop our sustainability efforts in the coming years. In 2026, we will add the EU waste code as the basis for waste accounting, improving transparency about environmental impacts. We will also strengthen the role of circular economy in practice, improve the accuracy of our carbon footprint calculations, and implement group-level HR development initiatives. We are also planning to join the SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative) climate goals in the near future.
In addition, we will continue to improve our sustainability metrics, enhance our reporting methods and deepen our data insights. We carry out ESG work in close cooperation with our customers, sharing information and expertise based on jointly agreed practices, so that we can respond to future requirements proactively and effectively.
“At Darekon, sustainability work starts from customer needs, but it is created in everyday collaboration between different teams. When quality, production, procurement, HR, and sustainability work together openly, results follow. We focus on clear measurement and develop our carbon footprint calculations to support both our employees and our customers’ sustainability goals,” says Darekon Sustainability Manager, Meeri Virkkala.
