We are committed to a sustainable operating model that guides our decision-making and everyday work. For us, sustainability means conscious choices, long-term development, and open cooperation with our customers. Our personnel value environmental responsibility and transparency, and each individual contributes through their work to how responsibly we operate. Our environmental efforts are based on clear objectives, the opportunities of green transition, and risk management.
We have identified and assessed the environmental impacts of our operations (ISO 14001) and based on these assessments we have set the goals of our environmental program that guide us in reducing our environmental footprint as well as preventing environmental damage and exceptional situations through proactive actions that support continuous improvement.
The possibilities of the green transition and energy efficiency
We leverage the opportunities of the green transition together with our customers and by identifying related risks at an early stage. In our own operations, we use as much zero-emission and green energy as possible and make conscious material choices, understanding their impact on the entire production chain. We invest in energy efficiency for the long-term and choose solutions that reduce environmental impact well into the future.
Darekon calculates its GHG emissions semi-annually. The calculation covers all essential emission sources and categories (Scopes 1, 2, and 3). GHG calculation is important to us because it enables us to identify major emission sources, reduce climate impacts, and develop our production to be more environmentally responsible. The calculation also supports customer requirements, certification systems, and EU reporting requirements. We report GHG emissions at group level and by factory, and can provide customers with product-specific and customer-specific carbon footprint calculations.
Cooperation and responsible development across the value chain
We develop our processes and product manufacturability together with our customers and partners, work closely between production and product development to select environmentally friendly materials, invest in energy-efficient and modern production technologies, train our personnel in responsible practices, and monitor and communicate our environmental impacts regularly.
Sustainable development and compliance
Darekon is committed to operating responsibly and sustainably, and we require the same commitment from all our partners. Good business ethics and compliance with laws and regulations form a strong foundation for our operations. We follow Darekon’s Code of Conduct and the company’s other operating principles.
ESRS sustainability report
Darekon published its first sustainability report in accordance with the ESRS standards based on data from 2025 in April 2026. The report focuses on three key themes (E1, S1, and G1) identified through the Group’s double materiality assessment. This analysis helped pinpoint the topics most relevant to both Darekon’s business and its stakeholders.
The report also includes the ESRS 1 and ESRS 2 general requirements.
Recycling and reducing environmental impact
Metal and electronic waste
Darekon recycles raw materials, metal waste, electronic waste, and plastic scrap generated in production for reuse.
Hazardous waste
Hazardous waste generated during production is delivered to authorized hazardous waste facilities.
Production processes and auxiliary materials
We use modern and energy-efficient technology in our production, choose materials and chemicals with lower environmental impact, recycle generated waste, and utilize closed, chemical-free washing processes to minimize environmental impact. We invest in high-quality and modern technology and consider environmental aspects in everything we do. We aim to be at the forefront of technology by adopting new tools and innovations at an early stage.
Stakeholder cooperation
In environmental matters, we work closely with our stakeholders in accordance with EU directives, waste legislation, and decisions and regulations issued by the Finnish Government.
